The Country
With no coastline or harbour, the double-landlocked country of Liechtenstein has remained independent for over 300 years. Known for its small size, Liechtenstein has been accidentally invaded by Switzerland on more than one occasion. Despite its size, Liechtenstein is an extremely attractive environment for business opportunities, as there are over 4000 businesses registered (about one business for every 8 citizens).
Fun Facts:
Liechtenstein is the only German speaking nation that does not share a border with Germany.
During the Austro-Prussian war, 80 soldiers were sent to fight, and 81 returned (they made a friend along the way).
Liechtenstein is the largest producer and exporter of false teeth.
My Experience
With only two hours in the country, my friends and I spent most of our time relaxing and taking in rolling green hills and mountainous terrain. When we entered the country, we immediately drove up to Vaduz Castle. I was excited to get some aerial shots with my drone over Vaduz, but I was met with a massive “No Drone Zone” sign. Trying to avoid breaking laws in a foreign country, my friends and I decided to wander outside Vaduz Castle and took a short walk to visit a field of friendly cows.
After a quick photoshoot (and when the cows started to wander away from us), we decided to pack everything up and continue our trip to the neighbouring country of Austria. Although it wasn’t long, our time Liechtenstein was considerably fun and relaxing.
